What Are Your Rates?

  • My hourly rate is $235/hour + HST

  • The cost for an Agreement Document is approximately $695 + HST, depending on how many sections are required.

How Long Will My Mediation Process Take?

The average mediation consists of:

  • Each party attending an intake session

  • Followed by 2 two-hour joint sessions.

    • The first joint session is focused on the financial issues and the second deals more with the children.

  • Following that, I write up your Agreement Document and then

  • We meet one final time to review the Agreement together.

  • HOWEVER, if your case is complex or it takes you some time to gather certain necessary information, the process can be longer. Co-operation and preparation affect how quickly and cost-effectively the process unfolds. Occasionally, my clients work through the process quicker than normal and, yes, they save money.

Can A Mediator Write a Separation Agreement?

Do We Need Lawyers?

  • Many people choose mediation because they wish to avoid the excessive cost of lawyers. Lawyers can advise you in ways that mediators are not allowed to. However, in Canada, you are free to make your Agreement with or without lawyers - the choice is yours.

  • The following statement was directly from the Government of Canada website. It has since been removed, but is still 100% true: "You can prepare a separation agreement on your own, or get a lawyer (or notary in Quebec and British Columbia) to prepare one for you."
